Welcome to St Mary’s Church
Whether you're new to the area, or have lived on Walney all your life, we would love to welcome you to St Mary’s and get to know you. You may have been to church a lot, or perhaps have not been for years, if at all; or maybe you just want to know more about Christianity. Whatever your reason for coming, we hope you feel welcome and encounter Jesus.
People sometimes say, ‘church is not for people like me’ or ‘I am not good enough to go to church’. Please be assured that St Mary’s is a group of ordinary people who are very much a ‘work in progress’: No one has everything together, and all of us are keenly aware of our own faults and failings.
On Sundays, we currently have one service, which starts at 9.30am. There is no dress code, but as the church is built of stone, it can be chilly in the winter months, so it’s good to wear something warm. After the service, everyone is warmly invited to stay on for tea and coffee in St Mary’s Centre next door.
